What changes in Valencia from 2030

The EPBD directive requires every home with energy certificate D, E, F or G to reach at least label C by 2030. Valencia city has an enormous housing stock from the 1960s-80s in neighbourhoods like Campanar, Benimaclet, Patraix and Russafa, with labels ranging from D to G.

For owners this means planning improvements or accepting sale and rental restrictions. Valencia city also leads urban transformation after the 2024 DANA disaster, with rehabilitation programmes that can be leveraged.

Why Valencia is ideal for reducing energy costs

Valencia receives 1,650 to 1,850 kWh/m² of solar irradiance per year. The coast has a mild winter climate but hot summers that drive up air conditioning use.

A typical flat in the Ensanche of Valencia with poor insulation can spend €180-350/month on cooling during July and August. An inverter heat pump and proper roof insulation reduce that bill by 35% to 55%. The first prescription is not always "install solar" — sometimes it is "improve the windows".

Real case: 100 m² flat in Russafa (Valencia) with label E

A typical case: 100 m² flat, built 1975, label E, two residents year-round. Conventional air conditioning and electric water heater.

Frequently asked questions — Valencia

Do flats in central Valencia have to comply with 2030?

+

Yes. The regulation applies to all buildings, including the historic centre. The requirements apply from 2030 for sales and rentals.

Can IVACE subsidies be combined with IRPF deductions?

+

Generally yes, but check each call. In the diagnosis we advise which grants you can combine and in what order.

Are solar panels worthwhile on a flat in Valencia city?

+

It depends on orientation, roof access and your usage. With a shared rooftop, a communal installation may be more cost-effective. We analyse it case by case.

Can I trust the quote from the local installer?

+

Some are excellent, but their job is to sell. We only provide an independent technical analysis.

How is DoctorSun different from a comparison website?

+

A comparison site connects you with installers who pay for leads. We do not sell panels and charge only for the diagnosis.
